we need your help. It seems we have a problem with Sharity on newer AIX versions (4.3.3 and 5). While IBM has a patch for AIX 5 which fixes the problem (see our knowledge base or bugtracking system if you want to know more), there is no such patch for AIX 4.3.3.
It seems there are three types of AIX 4.3.3 installations: 1. those where Sharity simply works 2. those where it fails, but a local compile from the source code works 3. those where even a locally compiled binary fails.
With "fails" we refer only to the "invalid argument" error as a result of every attempt to mount something. Please do not report other problems with this mail subject, report them to [EMAIL PROTECTED] instead.
We are at our wits' end with the problem and need more input. If you can test Sharity on AIX 4.3.3, please answer the following questions (in private e-mail to me):
- Is your machine of type 1, 2 or 3? - What version of the bos.net.nfs.client package is installed?
Thanks in advance!
Regards, Christian.
PS: If anyone knows the command to print out the version of bos.net.nfs.client, please post it to the list!
