The people HAVE the power, and this thread illustrates just that. We have the power to say "screw the law, I'm gonna street race anyway." And we do. Seems to me like the people DO have the power... officially or not.

Oh, and "power to the people" implies giving equal power to all people. Which means... yep, you guessed it: If you have 300 people demanding crackdowns on street racing and 15 people insisting they be allowed to race... "power to the people" dictates that the majority rules. Don't even imagine that this debate is politicians against the public, because it's not. It's the general public vs. a small group of people like you. You can't blame the government for everything (I mean you can, but it's not a very strong argument).

Have you ever even visited another country? Even with all the new (and old) government intrusions into our lives under this administration, we still live in one of the least restrictive societies in the world. I hope you're appreciating it more than you let on.
