My '85 LeBaron convertible (2.2L turbo, converted to TII specs, Mopar Performance computer, 5-speed sitting next to the car waiting to be installed) still has the original turbo. When I first put the car together, I was utterly broke and took every shortcut I could. This time around, I'm trying to put it back together the right way and I'm thinking now that the head is sitting on the workbench, maybe I should break down and replace the umpteen-million mile turbo before I put it back on the car. I also have three kids in college, so I'm still moderately broke.

Any recommendations on what would make sense for this car? Plans are to run just shy of 15 pounds of boost using a Grainger valve, plus the factory 2.5L plastic blowoff valve (unless I find a metal Eagle one in the boneyard). I'm looking for something fun, but completely streetable.

After a quick search, I found an eBay store that sells turbos for $250 a pop (http://stores.ebay.com/XS-POWER-STORE_Turbos_W0QQfsubZ3). $350 gets one at FWDPerformance. I'm sure the $1,600 Trannybuster won't be the one I choose...

Let me know any throughts/recommendations before I buy something. Stock Garrett rebuild? TII instead of TI? Hybrid?

As always, thanks for the help.
