Islam (“submission to God”) is not a new religion—it is the same religion that Prophets Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus and others followed. The Holy Qur’an states in Chapter 42 vs. 13*: “The same religion He has established for you as that which He enjoined on Noah – that which We have sent by inspiration to you – and that which We enjoined on Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: namely, that you should remain steadfast in religion, and make no divisions therein: to those who worship other things than God, hard is the (way) to which you call them. God chooses to Himself those whom He pleases, and guides to Himself those who turn (to Him).”* The Holy Qur’an is not a Book concocted by Prophet Mohamed, rather, it is the Final and Complete Revelation that builds upon and continues the string of Revelations, dating back from the *Book of Abraham upon Papyri, the Psalms of David, the Torah of Moses and the Gospel/Holy Bible of Jesus Christ.* The Qur’an is not a Book for Muslims alone. As the Final Revelation, the Holy Qur’an includes additional information that is clearly absent in the earlier Books. The Qur’an boasts more verses about Mary than does the Bible. Chapter 3 vs. 47 of the Qur’an states*, “She said: ‘O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man has touched me?’ He said: ‘Even so: God creates what He wills: when He has decreed a Plan, He but says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is!” *The Qur’an places a great degree of importance on Mary and reveres her immensely: *“Behold! The angels said: ‘O Mary! God has chosen you and purified you – chosen you above the women of all nations.’” *Holy Qur’an*, *Chapter 3 vs. 42. Furthermore, the Qur’an includes details of events relating and leading to the birth of Jesus Christ that are missing in the Holy Bible. *“But she pointed to the babe. They said: “How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?”-- *Holy Qur’an, Chapter 19 vs. 29.* * * * As you can see, the Qur’an does not conflict with the Bible or the Torah, rather, it supplements both these texts. Burning the Qur’an will not cause any damage to the Qur’an itself; however pertinent information that is otherwise absent in the earlier Revelations will surely be destroyed. It would indeed be naïve of us to strive to remove or detach the Last Revelation (Qur’an) from the earlier Revelations. *“You say: “We believe in God, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma’il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) Prophets from their Lord: we make no difference between one and another of them: and we bow to God (in Islam).”* The Holy Qur’an, Chapter 2 vs. 136. The Qur’an mentions twenty-four Prophets by name, almost all of whom are mentioned in the Torah and the Holy Bible as well. “*We gave him Isaac and Jacob: all (three) We guided: and before him, We guided Noah, and among his progeny, David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron: thus We reward those who do good: And Zakariya and John, and Jesus and Elias all in the ranks of the righteous: And Ismail and Elisha. And Jonas, and Lot: and to all We gave favor above the nations: (To them) and to their fathers, and progeny and brethren; We chose them, and We guided them to a Straight Way. This is the Guidance of God: He gives that guidance to whom He pleases, of His worshippers. If they were to join other gods with Him, all that they did would be vain for them,” *The Holy Qur’an, Ch 6 vs. 84-88. The Qur’an was sent down as an Inspiration, a Guide and a Mercy for all Mankind. Chapter 4 vs. 163-164 of the Qur’an says: *“We have sent you inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him: We sent inspiration to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the Psalms. Of some Messengers We have already told you the story; of others we have not – and to Moses God spoke direct;”* How then can we brazenly attempt to dishonor and insult a Divine gift of God? We believe that all religions including both Islam and Christianity, advocate peace. The September 11 attacks were made by a select few individuals that were obviously misled and had no regard for the sanctity of human life. Sadly and most unfortunately, individuals of diverse faiths were affected by this tragedy. However, we cannot establish a link between the attacks and the Qur’an. If we were to apply this logic, other Holy Books would be equally responsible for a number of crimes against humanity. Vilifying other religions and performing sacrilegious acts serve only to fuel hatred and violence. As the saying goes, “Mind will not experience peace if it fosters painful thoughts of hatred.” We are enclosing a copy of the translation of the Holy Qur’an for your reference. We also recommend that you review the following eye-opening works of prominent scholars: *The Bible, The Qur’an and Science *by Maurice Bucaille, *Jesus: Prophet of Islam* by Muhammad Ata Ur-Rahim and Ahmed Thomson, *Islam: A Guide For Jews And Christians *by Francis E. Peters,* Children of Abraham** *by Francis E. Peters and John Esposito and lastly, *The Amazing Qur’an*, a lecture delivered by Dr. Gary Miller, a theologian and mathematician. As a respected representative of the Christian faith and a leader in the Christian Community, we hope that you will have the insight to channel your knowledge, experience and influence towards promoting peace and tolerance—positive qualities that all religions consistently advocate.
