Hi Vlad,

The axes are not always the same for Accelerometer and Gyro indeed. (it depends
on which Shimmer versions you use and which Gyro board you use)

I made some illustrations to show the directions for these 2 combinations a
while ago;

-          Shimmer 1.3 + Flexible Gyro

-          Shimmer 2R + Rigid Gyro

You can find these illustrations attached.

Best,
Flip

Subject: [Shimmer-users] Accelerometer and Gyro Axis

Hello, I am a grad student working with shimmer at UC Davis. Using shimmer 2R.

I have a basic question, are the gyro and accelerometer x and y axes the same?

I know that rotating about the accelerometer z axis I get angular velocity on
the gyro z axis. Rotating about the accel x axis, however, I get angular
velocity on the gyro y axis. Rotating about the accelerometer y axis, I get
angular velocity on the gyro x axis. Is this the expected operation?

Thanks,

Vlad
