Hi Mike, Thanks helping. I'll watch the videos.
However, I did the require insmod and initiated the daemon. As I said, there is an IP interface when doing ifconfig and I also played with the netmask as it was wrong (IMHO). Anyway, it did not change the outcome. I'll check the videos and see if I've missed anything. - Tal From: mike healy [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, October 24, 2011 10:21 AM To: Tal Anker Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Shimmer-users] AccessPoint & SixAxisTransmitter Hi Tal, See the video here for a walk through of how to get it working: http://www.shimmer-research.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/ShimmerLive_IP_ex ample.mp4 or on this page with further instructions: http://www.shimmer-research.com/research-2/microip-example This is run using the stock vmware image supplied by shimmer-research. The important steps that you might be missing going on your description is loading the kernel module and starting the daemon. I'm trying to use the IP stack on the shimmer with these apps but for some reason it does not work. I've loaded the AccessPoint on the span dongle and as far as I can tell it works (I did not use any sniffer on the wireless medium though). I've loaded the SixAxisTransmitter on a shimmer mote and although it seems the process went well, when I'm trying to telnet to the mote nothing happens. - I've double checked the PAN_ID and SSID, on both ends. - I've double checked the IP addresses to be on the same subnet. - I've tried both using vmware and native linux for this, no change in the outcome - I've changed the netmask of the IP interface of the SPAN (it was 255.255.255.255 which seems problematic, changed into 255.255.255.0), does not help: instead of getting "no route error", this time I saw that led on the SPAN blinks every time I try to do the telnet to the mote, but eventually the request had timeout. - I've tried to use the Telnet App - just to make sure its not the SixAxis app, but the same thing happens. - Does anyone have a clue as to what I'm doing wrong?
