Ok, after stepping through all this in the debugger, it seems that EnqueueFeaturesTask.run() does finish, and everything back up the stack to the Thread it's running in seems to proceed normally until the Thnread dies. But... for whatever reason the completionQueue down inside the CompletionService is still empty after the task finishes. I don't get it. But if I look at this any more tonight my eyeballs are going to start bleeding... :-) Morpheus he beckons... maybe tomorrow will hold the answer.
