All, I've coded up a mini framework for Java end-to-end testing of Gadget rendering + 0.8 JS API + JSON requests + DataServiceServlet + Canonical JSON DB. DataServiceServlet could be swapped out easily for the abdera code, or we could even test both simultaneously if we wanted. I've also thrown in a few primitive tests of newFetchPersonRequest().
