Hi folks,

Before dropping the war, I would like to hear our mentors (or members)
about the release state and what's going (so) bad.

Shindig is not the only one ASF projects which distributes a war file:
wicket (no N or L in the wicket-examples-1.4-rc4.war or
wicket-examples-1.4-rc4.war\META-INF)
nutch (no N or L in the nutch-1.0.war or nutch-1.0.war\META-INF)
ode (with N+L in ode.war\META-INF but N seems to miss some artifacts)
incubator click (no N or L in the click-examples.war or
click-examples.war\META-INF)

Other war distributing approaches in ASF world:
roller (apache-roller-4.0.1.zip) includes an exploded war with N+L in root
openejb distributes only sources in openejb-examples-3.1.zip with N+L in root
cocoon-getting-started-2.2.0.zip distributes sources and artifacts
with N+L in root (no mention in N of the artifacts)

If distributing the war is too complicated, distributing the war
source in a zip could be a good alternative...

Cheers,

Vincent
