Hello,

I’m writing because I have some doubts about Apache Shindig, I’m a
newbie. Maybe my questions will be trivial, however I was looking for
answers on Internet (i.e. Apache Shindig’s site, Apache Shindig’s mail
list, Google and so on) but I was simply not able to find all of them.
At present, the main doubts I have are about gadget instances. Let me
introduce them with an example:

Suppose a Weather Gadget, that is, a gadget that given a city it
renders the weather forecast for such a city. We could deploy such
gadget several times on the very same HTML page using several iframes.
My first question is: can Shindig distinguish between instances of the
very same gadget rendered on the very same HTML page? I suppose the
answer is YES, but how does Shindig manage it? Looking for it on
Internet, I think the answer is using a different URL for each
instance, that is, the URLs include a parameter which indicates the
instance. But I’m not sure about this, is that right? If that is the
case, which is the parameter? Maybe “mid”? On the other hand,
supposing such a parameter exists, how does Shindig manage it?...is
the parameter value generated by the gadget container? that is, we can
ask Shindig for creating a new gadget instance and then a new
"instance identifier" is also generate?

Thank in advance, best regards
   Sandy
