Tested this on windows with 2 screens and got:
>>> gtk.gdk.screen_width()
3200
>>> gtk.gdk.screen_height()
1200
>>>
The first number is the combined width
The second number is the height of the right hand screen
I guess it's the size you'd make a window if you wanted it to cover both
