Doesn't take much pressure at all. I did it several times with a bicycle pump. Shot a grip completely across the room with it when I released the clamp, in fact. :-) Foot pump works, too. Any wrap-around, like a piece of leather with a velcro connection, works as a protective device...or cut off one of those plastic shaft tubes. Since I don't have a compressor, I found the GS blade grip remover (with tip modification) works faster and easier.

How much pressure should be used?
Should you utilize some sort of clamping device over the shaft?  I sort of remember reading something about a clamp or shield on one WEB site or another.
