Jents,

I've got a shop full of clubs and my shipment didn't make it in today. I
think Golfsmith ships by canoe now!! So I thought it would be a good time
to report on the (?) Annual (Bi-annual) ShopTalk Hawaiian Open. Well....
it's either do that or clean the pool!

Jack Stiehl, Rich "Mac" McHattie, Paul Buckingham, and I kicked off the get
together at Schofield Barracks' Kalakaua Golf Course at 7am. Jack claims he
can't hit a driver any more, so he teed off with a Quick Strike. It was
right down the middle. Next up we had Mac with a Ruger Titanium Driver,
which he knocked a country mile. Then Paul teed off with a Mars and striped
the middle of the fairway. I was bringing of the rear with an antique Raven
Ti Face 250cc on an antique Graffaloy Nitro Flex. Of course I out drove
them by 450 yards. NOT!!! Every one of these fine gentleman are craftsman
of the highest standard. They had all obviously tuned their clubs into
their swings and brought their "A" game to my home turf. Geez I can't
remember when I've taken such a beating! These guys are GOOD!!!

I do have one thing on them though. That's accuracy. I had to show them how
pinpoint my aim was by driving my ball at the giant tree standing in the
middle of the number 12 Par 5. My ball stopped mere inches from the middle
of the huge trunk. Mac tried his best but he missed the tree by a good four
feet. Jack and Paul weren't even close. They just played out in the middle
of the fairway like some old boring fuddie duddies! Geez.. It was no big
deal. I just chipped it straight out to the left and knocked my third shot
short of the green. They are really old fashioned in their thinking. I
mean, how much fun is it to hit a green in regulation?!! ;-)

Seriously, these are a great bunch of guys and we really had a blast. There
was only a few strokes separating us at the end, and the beer was cold!!
What more could you ask for??!

Mac, Jack, Paul -- you're a great bunch of guys. Thanks for flying and
driving out of your way to join in today! Next time Keith, we'll be gunning
for you!

Fairways and Greens,

Cub
