I'd like be able to get a *firm* flex (about halfway
between regular and stiff) from an Aldila Tour Gold
65-ST shaft that's going into a titanium driver head.
The finished club length will be 45". It would seem
the only way to achieve a firm flex would be to tip a
regular flex 65-ST, which is 46" long uncut and has a
3.5" parallel tip section. Roughly how much tipping
would be required to bring a regular flex 65-ST up to
a firm rating (approximately)? I'm guessing that I can
tip it as much as 2" with a standard bore head and end
up with a finished length of 45". Would it be possible
to use a blind-bore head in this situation or would
any tipping make the shaft too short to build a 45"
driver with a blind bore?

As always, any info will be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Jack Russell
