Ted – I’ve played a set of DC-01’s off and on this summer and have made a couple of sets for friends with good feedback.� My set has actually evolved into a combo set of DC-01’s in the 4-7 irons and the FC-01’s in the 8-SW.� I found the DC-01’s a little bit too large and clunky looking in the shorter irons and really like the look of the gunmetal FC-01’s in these higher lofted clubs.� My friends have stayed with the DC-01’s through the whole set so it’s really just a personal preference on my part.� For an oversized game improvement clubhead, the DC-01’s have a pretty clean look at address.� The top line is relatively thin compared to most game improvement designs.� The sole is pretty wide but not so much as the new ’02 Big Bertha irons – but wide enough to see the sole at address when the long irons are sitting square at address. �Distance, forgiveness and feel are all good but not great.� I’d say they are as good as anything out there in the category and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.� I also briefly played the Fire Forged irons that Dan mentioned and think they are a nice hitting head.� They have a unique sound/feel at impact, presumably from the thin face.� I did not see any appreciable distance gains over other comparable setups.� They have an oversized bulkier look than the DC-01’s due to a thicker top line.� They have �less offset than the DC01’s so that might make a difference for some people.� I had a chance to sell them so I did and haven’t looked into another set due to the high price.� Lately, I’ve been playing a set of wide soled irons “inspired” by the ’02 Berthas.� Although I never thought I’d be able to stomach the look of these at address, I can’t get away from the fact that the wide sole really makes these easy to hit, especially off the less than perfect lies we’re beginning to see as winter approaches.� Hope this is helpful info.� Jeff   -----Original Message----- From: Way, Ted/SAC [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, November 04, 2002 9:04 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: ShopTalk: Golfsmith DC-01 Undercut Irons   I am looking for a new set of irons - does anyone have experience with the DC-01's?  I really like the appearance of the Mizuno MX-20 heads - anyone know of a similar component model?   Ted Way
