I am a newbie to club building and I became interested in the first place because I wanted to make my own clubs with the intent to improve my own game of golf. Golf, unlike any other sport, is a one on one proposition where you are the one on both sides. For that reason to be good at the sport you have to learn as much about the tools as you do in using them. Now that I have committed myself to learning everything I can as for as building clubs I spend more time looking for how-to books and instruction. With only five years left to retiring I figure I can learn enough to do a darn good job at it and to round out my love for the game.
May of the postings I have read today makes me thing that I should have taken up mechanical engineering instead of electronics. I have been in two small shops and in neither have I seen any thing that would require that kind of knowledge to make a golf club. Both of the gentlemen that I visited make on the average of 200 clubs a month in a one man shop. Both have sons that are PGA players or instructors. This brings me to this point. What would you suggest that is a good instructional book for someone that wants to make good clubs but not engineering one.? -- ------------ Tom and Donna Mason Athens, Texas [EMAIL PROTECTED] ICQ #1294190
