Are the shafts parallel or tapered? The set I have been asked to change shafts in has Dynamic Gold S300 shafts, original from the factory. The customer wants them to be a total of 1" over standard length. The clubs are already 1/2" over standard. He thinks that 1/2" extensions would make them play "funky". I don't think so, but as a wise old clubmaker once said, "Give the customer what he wants."
Also, The butt extension in and of itself will not make them play funky. You may want to offer to extend one of the clubs for him to test and if he doesn't like it then simply remove the extension. Simple and easy.
