All,

Response from Tom W. regarding the Series 5 steel shafts, in case anyone
else orders them and wonders about the differences from the catalog specs.

Tedd

The Series 5 shafts were supposed to be a raw length of 40" - that was
the raw length I was getting on all of the prototypes all through the
development process last fall and hence what I put into the catalog.
Then out of nowhere when the opening production shipment arrived in late
January, I opened the cartons to do my check and there they were at 42"
raw length. So while I was taken back by this un-notified change, I was
at least pleased that this "surprise" was on the butt end and that had
no bearing on the final specs of the cut shafts. Hey, and there was a
free extra 2" that came along for no charge - which I laugh about
because in the shaft industry these days, it is so competitive that
companies do negotiate for reductions in raw length to save pennies!!

On the tip section length of the raw shafts, the R version is 11" and
the S version is 10" so this reference in the catalog to the 12" and 11"
is a mis-print that I apologize to you for. 11" and 10" were always the
intended tip section lengths for the two versions that were ordained in
the design process and I must have transmitted these wrong and then
missed them in the proofing of the catalog.

And by the way, yes, you are right in your post in guessing that I
designed the S to be a nice comfortable S that is not intended to be for
the most aggressive higher end S flex iron shaft player. It won't get
flippy for someone at say, 80mph 5-iron speed who also is a real
"hitter" in terms of downswing move, but it is designed with the initial
intent to stay under 80mph.

Thanks very much,
TOM WISHON
