You just need enough tape (thanks, Arnie) to
get it started.
Advantages:
* Easy to do -- very easy.
* Use very little tape.
* Almost no tape to remove when you regrip.
When you regrip: 3-4 squirts of solvent from that old fashioned solvent shooter (the one with the broken needle) into the vent hole, a shot of air from the compressor you should fix and presto the grip is off and there is no need to remove the existing tape. Just wet the tape and blow on a new grip ready to play after you wash the heads, dry them and put them back in the bag!
