Had a guy in yesterday with a set of Titleist irons. They had been plugged 1/4" longer. He wanted them 3/4" longer. The task was to get the old plugs out.

What I did was this; I have a length of 1/2" steel rod. I shoved the rod into the extension and clamped the extension/rod in my bench vise. I squeezed the extension against the rod as tightly as possible. I heated the area below the shaft butt with a propane torch and twisted the shaft using the head for leverage. I got every extension out with no problems, including 2 that were plastic.

It beats breaking them out for sure. Maybe someone here has a better way but this is the one way I've found that works every time.
