Hi Keith...

If you have to drill it out, use a small drill to come in from the bottom of
the hosel. Use a drill bit that matches your smallest pin punch or in a
pinch, a finishing nail will do the trick. Drill the hole and use the pin
punch to drive the ball out the shaft end. You should then be able to get
the extractor in there to get out the shaft stub.

You can fill the hole with a metal filler epoxy, then buff it smooth. With
a little luck, you can even match the color of the metal fairly well.

Good luck!
Royce

Subject: ShopTalk: Ping putter w/ ball bearing

Aloha all! I have a ping putter, with the ball bearing, broken off at
the hosel. I am going to try the freezing method I've read about
here, but I don't have any shaft to put in my puller, and my #4
extractor wont fit snug because of the ball bearing. Any tips? I was
brainstorming and thought about grinding the tip of my #4 extractor
down to give it more room, or maybe the next size larger extractor
would do the trick. Do I have to resort to drilling , and if so, does
anyone have any tips to make this job easier? TIA- Keith Anderson
P.S. Hey Burgess, That lead you gave me on the L/h High Moment
Slotline putter panned out and you really pulled my bacon out of the
fire , many thanks.
