Way to go, Dave!
We had the same kind of perfect day here in East Tennessee...first day I
wore long pants and a long-sleeved shirt to the course since last spring. After
a "stiff" start and bogies on two of the first three holes, I got it going
pretty well, too. You got me by two shots, though.
There is something about playing with a son, or your dad, that
is special. Played my dad in the Club Championship finals once and with him in
the Member-Guest finals twice. Never enjoyed tournament rounds anymore than
those. Now, I get to play with my boys about half a dozen times a year. Doesn't
really matter how well they play, or I play, it's just feels good to
do a "family" kind of thing once in a while. Don't even mind it when they
out-hit me by 50 yards. :-)
I had my most perfect round in 1999. It was the first and only round in my
life that I hit every fairway and every green in regulation and finished with a
4-under 68. I had four or five 65's in my younger years, but none of those was
as perfect a round, or on as difficult a course. Haven't come close, since.
