I'm finally back in business --- that is I now have a workbench built and a place to build clubs again. I forgot how fun it is to be able to do this whenever I feel like it. I lived in a small apt for the last 4 years up til last fall and had no place to build except in my dad's basement an hour away.

So this week I've been building. With that goes the miscellaneous thoughts and questions.....

- Question - does anyone know if anyone has TT Extra Lite wood shafts left (R)? I built 3 KZG fairway woods last week and only had 2 of those shafts left from a couple of years ago and realized they don't sell them anymore. I bought a TX-90 for the third fwy wood. Built them and tried them out. I can hit the two woods with the Extra Lite in them sweet, the TX-90 is another story - some good some very bad. : (

- I bought the whole set of KZG maraging steel fwy woods on clearance from a local distributor (cheap!!). I always loved the driver, but the only one I ever had I sold years ago. So I have the driver through to 7 wood now. I built the driver on the Snake Eyes Fujikura shaft -- two reasons, Golfsmith Canada is the closest place I can buy components and I've been curious about it for a while anyway. I bought it at "demo shaft" prices so it was 40% off - less impact on the wallet. It's not bad... feels nice so far but I'm not too consistent with it yet. Built it as 45" which is an inch longer than what I am used to. Didn't spine/FLO it and probably should have but don't have the equipment to do it.

- Ferrules - Read a tip on another forum about using a heat gun to soften it to get it on the shaft easier and it works like a charm. I had tried all sorts of other things but have always had problems. This time, with that tip, not a single one was a problem. (12 clubs or so)

- Built Tom Wishon's 550c 6 iron finally (I bought it last spring) and put it on his ZT high shaft. Love it. I tried the shaft last year compared to others with them all in Tour Cavity heads and it was the best of the bunch. I am not sure I can afford to build a set but damn, it is a nice looking club and feels pretty good so far.

- Used the "Softie" grips on a couple of things. I like the feel of them but didn't realize how ugly they really are until I had them on a club. The "grey" one -- whew! Ugly!!

That's it for the ramble...

Jen

PS to Mr Flan -- I'm far from ruined -- or well on my way depending on the p.o.v.! No word from Mr Domasky recently (whew!)). Busy later ; )
