I agree with Frank... if I ran across this fellow using his old equipment I would realize he is a beginner and think nothing of his poor drives or swing.  It is laughable to see clear beginners who have spent their $$ on equipment and not lessons... too cheap to take a lesson for $50 or whatever but will not hesitate to spend a small fortune on equipment!

I have found that the intimidation comes from the great drives that you hit with a driver and not some strange looking color combo. This only draws attention and causes one to overswing and be a bigger laughing stock than if he were using antique equipment.
