I'm sure in my pelz putting book (loaned to a worse putter than i) he had a laser device you attached to your putter to ensure you were aiming the putter where you wanted to go.

personally i just use the hit and hope method.

My new putter is actually kind of ugly.
I do think it might be an alignment problem, too. Fiddled with that a bit (my pretty woman/wife is out of town) and I was aiming to the right when I thought I was aligning straight.

toe weighted (toe-down) putter
I've been trying

Yes, if the toe weight brings the toe down too far for you it will go right.
Solution is stroke the ball colser to the heel. Mark the spot that works and when satisfied that the mark is in the right place make it permanent.
That's what the fitting system in my shop is about. The right head balance for your stroke, the right length and possibly a lie correction (but this is extremely rare).
Next time you select a putter hum "Never Make A Pretty Woman Your Wife"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you can't remember the words you lose your Michigan Citizenship!
