Surface preparation is far more important than the brand of paint. Scrape any corrosion and old paint out of the 'P' and then wipe the surface with acetone or lacquer thinner (which is mostly acetone). A 'Q'-tip works well for this. Any lacquer or enamel intended for metal surfaces should work fine. A good source for small quantities of lacquer are hobby shops. You can either use a small brush to apply the paint or mask off most of the head around the 'P' and spray the 'P' area then wipe the excess paint off from around the 'P' with a cloth barely damp with acetone or lacquer thinner (paint thinner works if you're using enamel). You don't want the cloth damp enough that solvent from the cloth dilutes the paint inside the 'P'.

Good luck,

I bought a great set of Titleist 690cb irons last year. I like everything about them except for the fact that the black paint inside the "P" of my pitching wedge has chipped away. Does anyone know where I can get this type of paint? I don't want to experiment with different paints if there is a certain type or brand I should use.
