Brian,

Don't do many offset drivers, but a few years ago I built one for a senior with a chronic slice swing. He was a pretty good player (about 11 handicap) who could come in with a 75 every now and then on his straighter days. I used the old offset Integra Slice Killer (400cc and think it is about 4° closed) and was suprised how easy it was to hit straight and fairly long. I think you can find these heads on close-out now for low dollars, if you want to try one before investing in heads like the Maxwell Curve. Several on ebay.

A few component suppliers still have them, too.

You might try a shaft like the Tour Golf filament wound TSSL200...52 grams, 46" for $22. This is the best filament wound shaft I've played yet. Put an original 195 gram Integra Super450 on one of these TSSL200 R shafts this afternoon with a Winn, swingweight C8 at 45" and was hitting it at the range tonight almost as long as my 48" Bang-O-Matic 460cc/Pure Energy combo. A lighter swingweight might help you get the head square faster...works for me when I get into my over-the-top swing mode with the E0 BOM. :-)

Subject: ShopTalk: Offset Driver

After years of trying, I have decided that I will probably not eliminate my fade/slice through natural methods.  Anyway, it is not a dramatic slice, and I have tried heads such as the Pwerplay 3000 – 6061 with a 2* closed face, and a hand picked Wishon Firehawk with a 2* closed face, with some success, but am thinking that an offset head might do the trick.

I have no experience with them and was wondering if someone could recommend a good one.  I’ve seen the Bang Maxwell Curve and Golfsmith Special Force.  Any suggestions?

Thanks.
