Thanks, Tom, that had come up before in the Forum and I had forgotten about it. My wife teaches elementary school and this reminds me of the unfunded requirements mandated by the state and federal governments that schools have to adhere to. BTW, I believe MOI units are g-cm2, rather than g/cm2. Personally, I still like Wishons (kg-cm2).

Here's hoping your new year is great!

I've had both the CG and head MOI machines for about 2 months now. It
does take a little time for each head on the CG machine, about
10-15mins, but pretty fast on the MOI unit. We will have all the driver
CGs and driver MOIs in the catalog for 2006 done with this unit as well
as the MOI unit. As we get more time, the others will be done as well.

The reason for the accuracy on the MOI unit is because the USGA has a
proposal for a limit for the MOI/vert CG axis. Hence it will be
necessary to know that you are even 1 g/cm2 under their limit.

I sure hope the club head designers and manufacturers out there are
going
to pick up on these cool tools so that they can provide that data to us
when we buy their heads. C.G. to within 0.5-mm does strike me as well
beyond the limits of practical necessity. And clubhead MOI to
0.5%? Why? Besides, I've done too many years of experimental testing
to
believe somebody can measure something to 0.5% without some solid
proof. It's easy to claim, much harder to do.

It is interesting that GM calls it the MOI matching system, not the MOI
measuring system. It will be interesting to see what input data is
required. From that we should be able to deduce what and how it does
its
tricks.

New toys are always fun,
