Hey Dr. T;
No, I'm in the Central Valley, south of Fresno, north of Visalia - 3 - 4
miles east of Kingsburg, living on the 11th fairway (maybe someday I'll
send a pix of the "mansion"). The area is called, I hope humorously
(but don't laugh) "The Fruit Basket Of America". For certain
Kingsburg/Selma is in fact "The Raisin Capital of America". SunMaid,
Lion, DelMonte, et al, are here. There are raisin, plum and peach
vineyards and orchards directly across the road from my house. Pretty
cool if you know the farmers an they allow you to pick a few from time
to time.
You know I was in the L.A. area for years. When "She Who Must Be
Obeyed" and I retired, we got such a good deal on this home that,
regardless of the terrible heat in the summer, we couldn't refuse.
JanFlan, SWMBO, was raised in Reedley, a few miles from here, so we knew
about the area.
Even though I'm an old fart, I was elected to the club's BOD last year
(stupidly agreed to the nomination), and am now "Director Without
Portfolio", or officially, "Special Projects Director". My current
assignment is to get a website going. We're online but "under
construction". You can probably take a look at www.krgcc.com . There are
only a few basic, temp pages but we've been at it for only a couple weeks.
Wine, RH Phillips? Expensive? Two Buck Chuck hit your nerve endings? We
have a guy on the BOD who's VP of "The Wine Group" here in the valley. I
figure if he can make a bottle, glass, corks, labels, chemistry,
distrubution, labor, insurance, taxes, ad infinitum, for a buck and
ninety nine cents, it's gotta be o.k stuff, huh?
TFlan
TFlan, you're in the Sacramento area, no?
I hope you're drinking a good local product like RH Phillips.
(A relative of my wife's is the chief vintner there.)
