I'm usually an "innocent bystander" with this group, because I'm green and rarely have anything worthwhile to contribute. But I will chime in on this one, because I had the same little white plastic plug fall into a TaylorMade r7 425 head a couple months ago.
I let that little plug become my white whale. Unlike Captain Ahab, though, I was ultimately successful...I managed to fish it out through the hosel with a surgical scissor clamp and a probe that had a tiny hook bent onto the end. In retrospect, that was a little insane. And in my scenario, I wasn't doing it for a paying customer, so the cost of my time wasn't an issue. I read about the acetone option, probably in the same place you saw it. I did not try it, mainly because the idea of filling a head even partially with acetone was just not appealing. Now that I have what is left of the plug in my hand, I'm glad I did not try it. This is one hard little piece of plastic. I do not think acetone would have even made a dent in this thing...I'm not up on my materials, but it something akin to PVC. I would think it would take MEK to melt this thing, and I wouldn't touch that stuff with a 10 foot pole, even if I were wearing a respirator and chemical gloves. If I had it to do over, I would begin and end with rattle stop. I know about rattle stop. I read a post someplace > online that mentions pouring acetone into the clubhead and hoping the > plug melts enough so you can shake it out.
