Good suggestion, but the trim code is A which means butt cut only if it's
catalog product.

Perhaps you should read Dave Tutelman's piece on how to build your own
_frequency machine_
(http://www.tutelman.com/golf/measure/fmeter.php?ref=clubmakeronline) or call
Aldila and ask them which of their club builder
customers in your area has a frequency machine. Pay the guy a few bucks to
find
out what you want to know.

Hi. Thank you for the answers. I am not a professional, but I have
followed this link for years and learned a lot from reading your comments and
through experimentation.
The set of Aldila NV hybrid shafts .370 were bought from Aldila's
clearance store. Before buying I inquired from an Aldila rep about
substituting
them for the NV irons shafts and if there was a difference between the two
(hybrid and iron). He answered there was no difference and sent! me a trim
sheet to be used. So I am confused. If there is a substantial difference in
frequency, I need to know before using them. They are for my own use and will
go into a set of Bridgestone J38 cavity backs.

Hi Ed,
You didn't say which heads the hy's came out of, like 2-3-4, nor which
heads they would be going into like 4-p or what ever.
You should be able to taper them with out any problem, I personally would
feel safer reaming the heads though.
I certainly would not cross-cut them.

The bigger issue is that Aldila only uses a 3" parallel section in all
their shafts, (well except for the vx/vl) even their .370 iron shafts have a
3" parallel, but they are discrete length and constant weight.
So your not going to have much if anything to tip them, and the Hybrid
shafts already come much softer than their iron counterparts, this combined
with the fact that your iron heads will be much heavier than your hy's will
leave you with super soft shafts, and you will not be able to have much of a
match in terms of frequency.

Now this is not always a bad thing in the case of a single club, but I
don't see it working in a set, not one you would want anyway.

I recently built a cast Vector 2 iron in a VS Proto 95 X Hybrid un tipped
1" over for a high swing speed player who is absolutely in love with it.
It's stiff enough for him, but still goes high enough.
He plays forged blades in 3-p, driver and 3 wd, but could never find a Hy
or a 5 wd he liked.

I have a set of Aldila NV hybrid iron shafts in .370 and I am asking if I
can insert them into a set of tapered .355 irons. Will the cross-cut
method work with graphite or will trimming a taper angle into the 370 tips
weaken the tip too much?
