Obituary of Willam C. "Bill" Swingler
Willam C. "Bill" Swingler, 79, of Columbia, died early Friday morning
at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy. He was the husband of
Miriam "Mim" Mowrer Swingler with whom he was married 58 years. A
lifelong Columbia resident, he was the son of the late Franklin I.
and Margaretta Miles Swingler.
Bill retired in 1994 after 32 years of service from Armstrong World
Industries, Lancaster, where he worked as a first class millwright.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was of the
Episcopalian faith, was a fifty-year member of the Columbia Lodge 286
F&AM and belonged to the American Legion Post 469, Wrightsville. Bill
had a true passion for golf and fishing and enjoyed his many visits
to Myrtle Beach and Stone Harbor. In his youth, he was part of the
Columbia "Tow Hill Gang."
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his son, William M.
Swingler and his wife Lorie, Columbia and his daughter, Kim M. wife
of David Kline of Mount Joy. His grandchildren, Christopher and Abby
Swingler and Harrison, Ethan and Joel Kline, also survive. His
siblings, Robert, Carl, Thomas and Dorothy, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held from the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home,
Inc., 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with the
Rev. Cannon Stephen Casey officiating. Interment in Silver Spring
Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Red Rose Veterans
Honor Guard and the Vet Salute 21 Honor Guard. There will be no
public viewing; however, the family will receive friends one hour
prior to the service. Kindly omit flowers. Contributions to Hospice
