Don,
What breaks, the shaft only, or also the adapter?

Keith. They are prone to break at the top as there is no cone or stress relief
and I talked with Nike rep and they were aware of the issues and was the main
reason changed design. So on reshaft I tell the customer no warranty.Don

Subject: Re: ShopTalk: Nike Str8 fit tip  Are you talking about the one prior
to this year's model? Meaning, it has the slotted collar on top of the head?
If so, there is no problem with reshafting it.   It won't need much heat if it
was the factory epoxy, but it does seem to be able to take heat just fine.  You
can save the ferrule by heating it and then popping it free with a putty knife.
I heated a cup of water to 170º and dunked the shaft tip in it for 4-5 seconds
to get the ferrule evenly warmed up.  I've also made my own unmarked
replacement ferrules by reaming out the ends of regular ones, then sanding the
bevel onto the bottom.  -Don M

one of these tips? I've done all the others but this one looks like it might
have a coating that could deform with heat. Any input other than cut and drill?
