Carl was nice enough to give me a FREE Dynacraft dimpler a couple of years ago for the cost of shipping.
The night I called about his frequency analyzer, the dimpler was at curb-side so we saved it for another day. Arnie I do have a smack plate LOL, I've had one for years . 1/2 inch steel plate does the job. After cleaning the shaft tips and inside of the hosel wipe both with acetone to be sure of good epoxy bonding. NOW here's the secret method. Have a helper hold the shaft on the slightly opened jaws of your vise or in a groove cut in a sturdy hardwood block. Now use a punch and hammer to dimple the shaft tips in 3 or 4 different places around the shaft (being sure to dimple where they are to be inside the hosel). You can omit the dimples and just smack the shaft tip out of round (I prefer the dimple method). DO NOT ATTEMPT A DRY FIT AS THE SHAFTS WILL BE REALLY TIGHT. Apply epoxy and seat the shafts by holding the head and smacking the shaft butt on a hard floor or a steel plate (called a smack plate). This guarantees the full seating of the shaft! Dimple method is still used by some OEM's !
