Hi, currently, 'shorewall status' will ouput
> # shorewall status > Shorewall-4.5.21-RC1 Status at vm-gentoo-x64 - Mon Sep 30 19:17:42 CEST 2013 > > Shorewall is running > State:Started (Mon Sep 30 15:04:37 CEST 2013) from /etc/shorewall/ That sounds like the current running firewall was created with Shorewall-4.5.21-RC1 but is wasn't. I just upgraded from shorewall-4.5.17.1 to shorewall-4.5.21-RC1, but I did not restart shorewall (=I did not recompile with the current version) yet. Isn't it possible to add a version tag to the compiled firewall script, which will be shown by the status command? The benefit would be that we would know "OK, we are running shorewall Y, but the current active firewall was produced with shorewall X" (so we know that fixes from Y to the compiler are not yet active...). You get my point? ;) PS: We already have such a tag, e.g "# /var/lib/shorewall/firewall version" will tell you the used compiler version. -Thomas ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ October Webinars: Code for Performance Free Intel webinars can help you accelerate application performance.
