www.shorewall.fi is now running the new layout. For those Mirror Owners who
would also like to switch, you may do so by rsyncing the 'web2014' module.
The 'www' module will continue to give you the old layout.

Thanks,
Tom

Subject: [Shorewall-announce] Attention Shorewall Mirror Owners - Fwd:
Announcing the new Shorewall website

I would like to thank Roberto for his hard work to redesign the Shorewall
Website. As Roberto announced, the redesigned site is currently running at
www.shorewall.org; www.shorewall.net and the other mirrors still have the
old site.

Before I allow the new site to be replicated via rsync, there are some
Apache configuration changes that may be required:

- The 'include' module must be activated. On my Debian server, that
means creating a symbolic link in /etc/apache2/mods-enabled:

  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30 Dec 27 17:28 include.load ->
     ../mods-available/include.load

On Debian and derivatives, this link may be created by:

        sudo a2enmod include

- In the shorewall mirror configuration file, you have a choice:

        a) If you prefer 'AllowOverride None', then you must add the
'+Include' option and add 'XBitHack On' in the Shorewall
           mirror directories.

        b) If you have 'AllowOverride All', then no additional changes
are required; the .htaccess file replicated by rsync will
           perform the needed configuration changes.

One thing to note: The new layout assumes that the mirror is hosted in a
base directory of /; If your mirror has a different base directory, please
let us know as we will need to make some tweaks to insure that the Server
Side Includes work correctly on your mirror.

Thanks!
-Tom

The Shorewall website has undergone a major redesign.

The old frame-based layout has been traded for a new CSS-based layout, and
the old default color scheme has been updated to integrate the colors of the
Shorewall website logo. All the content remains and is still in the same
locations, so external links to the Shorewall website will continue to work.

Initially, the design will be visible on the recently acquired shorewall.org
domain at ( http://www.shorewall.org ) for a short time prior to going into
production on the main Shorewall site and being replicated to all the
mirrors. During this initial period, community feedback and comments would
be much appreciated.

In November 2008, the Shorewall team held a logo design competition, and in
January 2009 a new website logo was chosen. The intent was always to base a
new website theme on the new logo. However, for a variety of reasons, the
website redesign did not take place as planned. Now, almost 5 yeasr later,
the website has been redesigned.

Please email feedback/questions/comments to [email protected].
