I can make what you were trying to do a bit easier in Shorewall 5.0.3 by 
redefining MODULESDIR slightly. If it begins with '+', then Shorewall 
will split its value on ':' and for each resulting directory, Shorewall 
will add to the default MODULESDIR the directory 
/lib/modules/$uname/$directory.

In your case, you would set MODULESDIR=+extras/rtpengine.
