Thanks for the info, I guess I'm happy that at least I didn't miss something silly, after so much trying. I've filled a bug report with Debian (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=631234), but I'm wondering now if this is not an upstream issue, since I got the exact same issue with CentOS.
