Another very useful option is TRACK_RULES={Yes|No} at
http://www.shorewall.net/manpages/shorewall.conf.html
Activating this, whenever you type "shorewall show" you can see the which
line in your configurations files generated which iptables rule along with
it's statistics (if it has been used or not)
Ex:
17371 1424K Drop all -- * * 0.0.0.0/0
0.0.0.0/0 /* @@@ /etc/shorewall/policy:28 @@@ */
44756 2831K smurfs all -- * * 0.0.0.0/0
0.0.0.0/0 ctstate INVALID,NEW,UNTRACKED /* @@@
