Just to chime in, if you launch an image editor from outside Shotwell and
edit a photo while Shotwell is running, the change will only be noticed by
Shotwell if you have library monitoring turned on (Edit -> Preferences ->
Watch library directory for new files) *and* the photo file is somewhere in
your library directory (i.e. the directory listed right above this
checkbox).  Otherwise, Shotwell will only notice the change the next time
you start it.
