I'm enjoying tidying up my tags (each to their own :-) ). It's quite
satisfying making order out of chaos. The only frustration is when I need to
'reparent' a tag. My 'Acer' tag bundle seems to have found its way to the
top level and it needs to be way-down there under Sapindaceae. At the moment
I need to click and drag it all the way down on a slightly terrifying quest
hoping that I don't drop it on the way as I overtake a few hundred other
tags. Are there any plans to allow an 'edit tag' option where it would be
possible to move a tag to a different place in the tag hierarchy?

Hi Dougie,

Yes, eventually we'll have the ability to edit the entire hierarchical tag
path through the edit tags dialog. That should make lives easier for folks
who have a lot of tags.

We have a ticket on this here:
http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/3911

Actually I don't see how the changes proposed in that ticket will help with this particular use case: the Edit Tags dialog affects only one photo, and this user wants to move a tag to a new position in the hierarchy.

We'd like to make it possible to use the keyboard to move tags in the hierachy (http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/4048). Then you won't have to drag over a large number of tags: you'll be able to select one tag, choose Edit->Copy, then choose a new parent and choose Edit->Paste.
