Hi Patricia,

Great to hear from you! I hope your holidays were splendid!

To answer your question, we developed our own "connectors" (this is
what Shotwell calls them) for Facebook, Flickr, etc., because at the
time we began development (mid-to-late 2009), nautilus-sendto had no
support for publishing to social web services. Furthermore, our
ultimate vision for the Shotwell web connectors is that they be
bidirectional (i.e., not only can you publish your photos from
Shotwell to Flickr but you can import a Flickr photoset into
Shotwell). In the longer term, we'd also like Shotwell to support
automatic cloud synchronization, so that when you adjust the color of
a photo in Shotwell, the colors of that photo are also adjusted
automatically in the published version of the photo on Flickr and
Facebook. With these requirements, nautilus-sendto is just too simple
a tool to support our needs. That said, if all you're going to be
doing is moving from photos from Cheese onto social websites,
nautilus-sendto may work great for you.

I can't wait to see you at GUADEC next year!

Lucas
