Chris,

Shotwell 0.12 wil not build on Ubuntu 11.04 because it requires newer versions 
of various libraries than those present in 11.04.  I think it would be 
challenging to upgrade those libraries with your current Ubuntu version.  If 
you'd like to try Shotwell 0.12, I recommend that you upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10 
(or 12.04 beta).
