It looks to me that you're attempting to import the same file (not a
duplicate, but the same file) a second time. In other words, the file
you're attempting to import is already in the library.

There's many reasons. At the end of an import, Shotwell should
give you a
list explaining why photos were not imported. In Shotwell 0.14, it

offer to save a text file giving a full report.
The most likely cases are that the photos were byte-for-byte
duplicates of
other photos (Shotwell won't import duplicates), that they are not
photo
files (corrupted or named incorrectly), or that Shotwell doesn't
support
their data format (GIF is the most prominent for example).

Hi Jim, I import and copy my photos from /home/grant/photodump/ to
/home/grant/Pictures/. I have:
# updatedb && locate IMG_20130303_144420
/home/grant/photodump/IMG_20130303_144420.jpg
#
"Shotwell Import Log.txt" says:
/home/grant/photodump/IMG_20130303_144420.jpg duplicates existing
media item
/home/grant/photodump/IMG_20130303_144420.jpg
Can you help me reconcile this?
- Grant
I imported/copied a large number of photos into shotwell from a
folder and I
was about to delete the folder but I noticed at least several
photos that
did not import or copy. Why would some photos import and not
others? - Grant
