I believe you're seeing a problem that has affected other translations
as well: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/6939
I've re-opened that ticket. We have made some work in the past toward
a more robust solution by using locale settings rather than
translations: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/2462

shotwell shows 12 hour time *without am/pm*.
