I will let morphis answer to that for the moment.

Hello!
Hey Nils!
I would very much like to follow the recent developments of SHR/FSO on
the Palm Pre and especially the Aurora approach (which I think is a good
one - start with a minimal but working base).
Gald to see, someone likes the idea of having a very simple approach of
a user interface working on a phone :)
I have a Pre (old one, no 2 or plus) at hand which I can use almost
exclusively for playing. I followed the SHR PalmPre installations
instructions (had to tweak them IIRC) and now got a FSO image booting.
But this seems to be pretty old and already judging from the screenshots
of the SHR Wiki the image that was installed in the process is not the
latest one ;)
I don't know in which state the SHR images on the buildhost are. It's a
long time ago I tried to build and "use" a SHR image on my Palm Pre.
I guess/hope that the Aurora team developers have something more running
with Aurora on the Pre?
Yes and no. We have a working image you can flash on the device. It will
currently only come up with a simple dialer you can use to insert a
number and make a call to another person. Nothing more. Everything else
will follow after the first release.
Question would be how could I possibly follow the current Aurora
developments on the Pre?
There is currently no real documentation of the development process of
aurora as I am mostly the only person working on this. All documentation
is in the FSO wiki [1] where you can see the selected user stories [2]
for the first version too. Official images of aurora build from the
latest version you will find here [3] (it's also mentioned in the wiki
pages).
In general we need more people working on aurora. Doing the most work on
my own is not the best option and as mickey is currently busy with a lot
other things (regular life :) I am searching for people which are
motiviated to support the idea behind aurora. We don't need only people
doing the low level bits. There is also work to do for documentation,
writing news, helping people to try aurora, polishing the UI with some
nice graphics, testing, reworking the fso website to promote aurora and
a lot things more.
Not only asking you, but all other people on this list too willing to
support the idea to have some very simple but working approach on a
modern device like the Palm Pre. And I have to say this: We will not
stay at the Palm Pre, we can also support other devices but we need
people working on this. Aurora's aim is to get other devices supported
by a small amount of work.
regards,
morphis
