Hi, I think I can't handle more of it, so I'm thinking of quiting SHR.
The main problems are that there is too much work to be done, too few developers(that means too much work for me) and the phones aren't really unusable(that means a lot of frustrations and nervousness): * With openembedded-core we don't have all the software that we had before, for instance we lack an IRC client and a decent cross-device browser: firefox segfault at startup, midori segfaults at startup if you don't change the icon theme, eve segfault at second startup or often at runtime. if we forget about gta02(armv4t) we could fix it for the armv7 devices with firefox or chromium(I've a recipe for it at work). but we have to support the gta02 too, there is also links -g for gta02 but the scrollbars are too smalls to make it usable. * The GTA04 is still unusable: no good alsa forwarding(I failled big on that and no one seem to want to pickup the work ), and it still has FSO modem bugs( #669 and #670). * The nokia n900 still has bad sound quality during calls(I tried again to fix it without luck, maybe we should just revert to when it worked better?) which prevent it to be usable either. * The Nexus S worked fine but had incomplete modem support, now it has more complete modem support but no sound during calls anymore. * I don't know the status of palm-pre, I unbroke booting but mine has a touchscreen issue that prevented me from really trying it. * Then someone may think that the GTA02 is the most usable SHR phone....but still it has hardware bugs(microsd issues, bad sound quality on headphones),but most important it also has a suspend bug which prevent it to be used as daily phone(the bug is that sometimes the phone doesn't resume at all. there is also another suspend bug where when you play a sound during suspend you get no sound at resume...). Beside all that bluetooth is better than before but still not integrated well enough(no support for SCO for instance,or A2DP not working out of the box). we also have some long standing other minor issues like running on a root account and not having correct VOIP, <insert some features wanted by a dev at a given time> but I think they should be forgetten for now given the above issues.
