it totally ok and in my opinion also necesary (just think about the 
keypad in the dialer. default buttons just would not look as good as the 
keypad using custom edc).
what can be done to make it theme friendlier is to pack it all into one 
.edj file. i dont think there is any sane way to make the phone apps 
userfriendly without makign it unnecessarily complicated.
