This provider switching is normal in automatic mode, even with conventional 
handsets. A friend on 3-uk is often grumbling about his Sony-Ericsson doing 
it, particularly when web browsing as the change of IP when renegotiating the 
gprs connection messes up session tracking on many sites. The same thing 
happens when it switches between 3G and gprs data connections.

FSO will let you manually select a specific network to prevent roaming. This 
is probably available through the SHR Settings gui though I haven't checked. 
The downside of this is that if you wander outside simyo's coverage area it 
won't switch over to vodafone. The Sony will do this too if you can find your 
way through the menus.
