This has been the behaviour for as long as I've used it.
No, it is a recent regression. It used to be that you could see the
current track all the time. You could zoom in and out or pan. No
problem, the track was redrawn. And enabling logging did not make any
difference at all. The red track behaviour did not change.
Now it is broken. The track is lost on zoom/pan when logging is enabled.
Very irritating when mapping roads, because you can't see where you have
been already. :-(
